Abstract:
The aim of this study is to explore the potential benefits of ultrasound usage in wastewater
treatment. The study proposes a series of experiments where the industrial wastewater with organic
compounds is treated with ultrasonic radiation. Sonochemical treatment was applied in order to
degrade a series of pollutants: propylene oxide; 1,2-dichloropropane, bis(1-chloro-2-propyl) ether
from industrial wastewater. The experiments have shown encouraging results, the wastewater
pollutants removal efficiency ranging from 86.6% to 92.5%, after 90 minutes of ultrasonic
irradiation.
