The main pollutant in the Jiu Valley area is the coal extraction and preparation industry, which constitutes an influence factor on the environment, with negative effects on the soil, water and air. The soil is affected by sterile’ deposit in heaps as a consequence of the underground exploitation activities. By depositing sterile in heaps numerous unbalances have been produced in the area’s flora and fauna, the current project proposes solving these problems in the Lonea M.E. perimeter, which is taken into consideration.
